O365 Weekly Digest - 01/07/2019

Every week I'll be posting a quick summary of O365 updates included in the admin weekly digest email that you can sign up for via the admin Message Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/MessageCenter -these emails include items posted to the message center over the last week and come out every Monday.

To be honest I wish the first one of these that I did was more exciting but here we are. The most exciting one for this week is arguable that mail reads will now be enabled by default in the Exchange Online mailbox auditing. I've guess I'll always have a sweet spot for audit tools after the "Magic Unicorn Tool" was exposed then killed off in the summer of 2018 but it's good to see Microsoft working on tools to help admins track and surface user activities. (Roadmap ID 32224)

Moving to the desktop, in mid-January 64-bit office will be set as the default for Office ProPlus and Office 2019 installations. If you're a Mac user, OneDrive Files On-Demand is now rolling out for you as an update to OneDrive Sync (Roadmap ID 44736). The last update, Skype for Business will be going through a planned maintenance over the coming weekend.

PowerApps Delegation Warning

Update Aug 15 2019 - Microsoft has updated PowerApps to allow for some complex SharePoint data delegation, this will hopefully resolve most issues you were seeing when working with SharePoint data:  https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/sharepoint-delegation-improvements/ If you've tried to use the Filter, LookUp or Search actions in PowerApps you have seen the yellow warning error that shows a 'delegation warning' and you might have even ignored it because your PowerApp was working fine in testing.
