O365 Weekly Digest - 07/01/2019

Every week I'll be posting a quick summary of O365 updates included in the admin weekly digest email that you can sign up for via the admin Message Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/MessageCenter - these emails include items posted to the message center over the last week and come out every Monday.

Updates:

  • SharePoint News and Page recommendations is rolling out (Roadmap ID: 52604) 
  • Quick edit improvements are coming to SharePoint lists and Libraries (Roadmap ID: 30556) 
  • Yammer is getting a new Question and Answer post type (Roadmap ID: 34238) 
  • Forms now supports ownership transfers if someone leaves the organization

    Admin Updates

    • Updates to the anti-spoofing enforcement actions (Roadmap ID: 46841)
    • OneDrive and SharePoint is integrating with Azure B2B (Roadmap ID: 33415)  
    • Updated Delivery Status for Threat Explorer (Roadmap ID: 52595) 
    • The Teams desktop app will be included in ProPlus installations (Roadmap ID: 51452) 
    • It will now be easier to manage roles in the M365 Admin Center (Roadmap ID: 52624) 
    • New Data Privacy features are rolling out to the Message Center 
    • Users will now be able to login to Teams with their organization accounts even if they do not have an account in Azure AD. While this is typically an end user update admins should be aware of this update if there are any eDiscovery and Hold considerations that need to be considered for your organizations. (Roadmap ID: 52416)

    Updated Feature: We’re making some changes to anti-spoofing enforcement actions
    We're making some changes to the enforcement actions for intra-org spoof and Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) failures. Towards the end of February, we’re simplifying the way that you manage anti-spoofing protection within Office 365 by consolidating all spoof-related actions under a single policy.This message is associated with Office 365 Roadmap ID 46841.

    Message center is being updated to support the communication of messages related to the privacy or security of the Microsoft 365 service to a restricted set of recipients.     We’re excited to offer you productivity insights in an Outlook add-in powered by MyAnalytics. The add-in shows users insights about their recent collaboration and communication patterns and suggests ways to work more effectively.     What's new in Learning Pathways version 3

    Microsoft Learning Pathways just launched with version 3.0. In this blog I'll provide an overview of what has updated with this new version of Learning Pathways. If you don't know what Learning Pathways is check out my blog or Microsoft documentation .     The Behind the Scenes Scope of SharePoint News

    I recently had someone ask if there was any way to disable the ability to send a SharePoint news article to an external party and after some clarification it became apparently that even with external sharing completely disabled in the tenant you can, in fact, send a preview of the article to any email address. After some research it became apparent that there is no ability to turn off this functionality which caused some concern of potential data leakage. For reference we are talking about the SharePoint news article 'Send to' functionality shown below.  While a credential is needed to access the full article, any email sent will include an article preview. The article preview doesn't show anything too worrisome as it is just the title, the first few lines of text, and an image but one area that caught my eye was the ability to add in the optional message. After some testing it does not appear that there is any length limit to the text that can be put in the summary, it got
