O365 Weekly Digest - 05/06/2019

Every week I'll be posting a quick summary of O365 updates included in the admin weekly digest email that you can sign up for via the admin Message Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/MessageCenter - these emails include items posted to the message center over the last week and come out every Monday.

Outlook/Exchange

  • Offensive Language intelligent filtering is coming to Exchange Online (Roadmap ID: 43257
  • For users who have opted-in to new Outlook on the web features are not able to share their ability from email compose

Teams and Shifts

Feature update: Office 365 Account Manager is getting updated
The account manager in Office 365 allows an authenticated user to access account links, sign out, and change their profile picture. We are updating Office 365 account manager to be consistent with other account experiences across all of Microsoft. This change also allows us to provide more account-based features in the future. This enhancement is related to Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 50753. This change does not apply to Office 365 subscriptions in GCC.

New Feature: New Supervision Offensive Language intelligent filter
Monitor sent or received email messages in your organization for offensive language. The model leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence to identify inappropriate email messages as part of anti-harassment and cyber bullying monitoring requirements. Updated Feature: Changes to definition of Files Shared Internally
We have identified telemetry issues with the Sharing Report that resulted in inaccurate counts for files shared internally and files shared externally. We are making updates that will address these issues and improve report accuracy. We'll begin rolling this feature out soon. When a private team is discoverable, it shows up in search results and is included in suggestions in the team gallery alongside public teams in Teams. Updated Feature: Skype for Business Certified IP Phones: Microsoft Online Device Registration updates

To provide our customers with best-in-class security across our services, Microsoft is implementing the use of Microsoft Identity Platform 2.0 (an evolution of the Azure Active Directory identity service) which uses the OAuth 2.0 authorization protocol. OAuth 2.0 is a method through which a third-party app can access web-hosted resources on behalf of a user, through a third-party application ID.

Updated Feature: Microsoft Secure Score Integrated into Microsoft 365 Security Center

We have updated the Microsoft Teams PowerShell module to release a generally available version. This PowerShell module, first released in Beta last year, allows you to manage the lifecycle of teams within your organization. Updated Feature: Authentication administrator and Privileged authentication administrator roles
Updated feature: Authentication administrator and Privileged authentication administrator rolesWe are updating permissions for the Authentication administrator and Privileged authentication administrator roles in Azure Active Directory. These roles will be given permission to reset passwords for users. We will deploy the change to these roles in mid-May 2019.

Quick Look at the Surface Duo Android Emulator

Microsoft recently released their SDK and Emulator for developing dual screen applications for the Surface Duo ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dual-screen/introduction ) and being a bit curious about what the experience was going to be on a dual screen device I decided to give download it and give it a try.  First Impressions First and foremost there is the novelty of having two apps launched side by side. The Duo emulator is using Android Version 10 and to be API version 29, both are the latest versions of Android. There is no Play Store or Microsoft Store on the emulator, which is to be expected as its main purpose is app development. But beyond that it appears that most of the Google applications are not included in the device and the build is based off the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) more than anything else.
