O365 Weekly Digest - 03/25/2019

Every week I'll be posting a quick summary of O365 updates included in the admin weekly digest email that you can sign up for via the admin Message Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/MessageCenter - these emails include items posted to the message center over the last week and come out every Monday.

New Features

• New Autodesk integration will allow users to open DWG files from OneDirve and SharePoint in the AutoCAD web app (Roadmap ID: 33414)
• New Task pane in Outlook on the web (Roadmap ID: 44211)
• Smart Time suggestion coming to Outlook on the web (Roadmap ID: 48581)

Admin Updates

• Additional Outlook mobile app configurations (Roadmap ID: 42512 & 42521)
• Management of restricted users has moved from the Action Center to the Security and Compliance Center (Roadmap ID: 31546)
• Per-Machine installs of the OneDrive sync client for machines with multiple users (Roadmap ID: 49424)
• DLP policies for Teams messages (Roadmap ID: 34246)
• New URL views report in Threat Explorer (Roadmap ID: 49537)

Mar 22 Updated Feature: Microsoft Teams Commercial Cloud Trial Major Update: General Availability We’re updating the Microsoft Teams Commercial Cloud Trial. We'll begin rolling this feature out soon. This message is associated with Office 365 Roadmap ID 49456. Mar 21 New feature: Outlook mobile app configuration policies We’re rolling out support for additional app configuration setting capabilities in Outlook for iOS and Android in lockstep with the availability of an enhanced configuration policy portal page in Microsoft Intune. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap IDs: 42512 and 42521. Mar 21 We're making some changes to how you manage restricted users Restricted Users is a new Office 365 feature. We'll begin rolling this feature out soon. It is a replacement for the Exchange Action Center.This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 31546. Mar 21 New feature: Per-machine install of sync client (preview) We're excited to announce the preview of the per-machine sync client. With the per-machine sync client, you can install OneDrive under the “Program Files (x86)” directory, meaning all profiles on the machine will use the same OneDrive.exe binary. This means there will be a single version of OneDrive on the machine and a single update to download. Other than where the sync client is installed, everything else stays the same. Mar 18 Dynamics 365 and CDS – Service Update Schedule Changes for Trial Organizations We are changing the update schedule for customers with a trial organization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) or a trial of the Common Data Service for Apps. The minor service updates will be applied globally each weekend during your billing region’s maintenance window. A single update notification will be published for all trial organizations and will contain the start and end date of the overall deployment schedule. Mar 18 Updated Feature: "Insights by MyAnalytics" updated timeline and additional control Major Update: General Availability We previously announced the rollout of MyAnalytics via Message Center. This message is to update you on changes to availability and additional control functionality. Starting April 15th you could begin to manage "Insights by MyAnalytics" at the tenant level from the Exchange Admin Center. The add-in functionality will begin rolling out on May 15th to give you additional time to manage your settings. We have provided this additional time and control so you can tailor the roll out of “Insights... Mar 18 New feature: Microsoft Teams for Firstline Workers: Microsoft Graph API for Shifts The Microsoft Graph API for Shifts is a new Office 365 feature. We'll begin rolling this feature out soon. Mar 18 Updated Feature: Updates to Microsoft Whiteboard Major Update: General Availability We're making several changes to Microsoft Whiteboard that will roll out over the next 3-4 months.For all organizations with Whiteboard - Microsoft Whiteboard will appear as an available product in Office 365 and the service principal will be added to appropriate tenants that have Whiteboard enabled.For all Office 365 tenants with Whiteboard located in Europe - Microsoft Whiteboard will automatically store whiteboard content in datacenters in that region.For all organizations with Surface Hubs... Mar 18 Sharable links in Word and Outlook for Windows and mobile Major Update: General Availability We are making updates to key Office 365 apps to ensure that document sharing by inserting links in Word, Outlook for Windows and Outlook for iOS uses the permission you’ve set at the organization level for OneDrive and SharePoint. This change aligns with the expected permission level for email recipients and collaboration partners when inserting sharable links into Outlook messages and Word. This enhancement is related to Microsoft 365 Roadmap IDs 33156 and 33870.
