O365 Weekly Digest - 03/04/2019

Every week I'll be posting a quick summary of O365 updates included in the admin weekly digest email that you can sign up for via the admin Message Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/MessageCenter - these emails include items posted to the message center over the last week and come out every Monday.

Another week that is a little heavy on updates to previously announced features but this weeks digest includes four exciting new features. For starters MyAnalytics is now being rolled out to all business suites including E1 and E3 (Roadmap ID: 45625). If you are not familiar with MyAnalytics you can find more details here: https://products.office.com/en-us/business/myanalytics-personal-analytics

Teams is getting updates to meeting scheduling with the change of the Meetings app to the Calendar app (Roadmap ID: 48516). Whlie SharePoint site navigation will be able to be reordered via a Drag and Drop (Roadmap ID: 48551).

And last but not least, live events in M365 is rolling out to all (Roadmap ID: 46607) and has a few additional features on the roadmap including Microsoft Steam support (Roadmap ID: 31090), Yammer Support (Roadmap ID: 18503), and Microsoft Teams support (Roadmap ID: 24216)

We’ve made a change to the Microsoft Trust Center
As you might be aware, Microsoft discloses the names of subprocessors who may have access to customer data and provides advance notice of new subprocessors. As a commitment to transparency, anytime we add new vendors/subprocessors, we disclose this information in the Microsoft Trust Center and send you a notification about this change.

Updated feature: Calls app available for all VoIP enabled users in Microsoft Teams
To make calling more discoverable in Microsoft Teams, users that have Voice over IP enabled will now see the Calls App in the App bar on Desktop and Web Clients. There is no change in available functionality for existing users or their calling policy configurations. This feature has been previously discussed in MC149373 and MC171414. General availability of live events in Microsoft 365
Major Update: General Availability
Live events in Microsoft 365 is a new capability that has been in preview and will become generally available in the next few weeks. Live events enables users to broadcast video from Microsoft Stream, Teams and Yammer, and can be used for a wide range of scenarios, from screensharing and webcams, to studio-quality broadcasting that supports the use of third-party encoders. Feature update: Admin center support updates, including full page ticket history view and callback scheduling
Major Update: General Availability
Microsoft 365 support is designed to be effective, efficient, and transparent to ensure a high-quality experience. We hope the new support features coming soon to the Microsoft 365 admin center will help reduce time to resolution and improve the overall transparency and effectiveness of the support process. These updates do not apply to Office 365 subscriptions in GCC at this time.

Feature update - Mobile admin app update, including device management
Major Update: General Availability
The Microsoft 365 Admin mobile app allows you to receive notifications, add users, reset passwords, manage devices, create support requests, and more- all while you’re on the go. This enhancement is related to Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 47918. This rollout does not impact Office 365 subscriptions in GCC.

Major Update: General Availability
We’re excited to offer you an improvement in MyAnalytics, that gives you more choice and control over which features you want your users to see when. Updated - The SharePoint feedback button is being retired and removing pictures of the first three group members
We're making some changes to SharePoint Online. Starting 2/18/2019 we're retiring the product feedback button from the site footer of all SharePoint home and all modern site pages. Additionally, we are updating the design of the site header for SharePoint sites connected to Office 365 groups to remove the circular pictures of the first three members of the group.

Quick Look at the Surface Duo Android Emulator

Microsoft recently released their SDK and Emulator for developing dual screen applications for the Surface Duo ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dual-screen/introduction ) and being a bit curious about what the experience was going to be on a dual screen device I decided to give download it and give it a try.  First Impressions First and foremost there is the novelty of having two apps launched side by side. The Duo emulator is using Android Version 10 and to be API version 29, both are the latest versions of Android. There is no Play Store or Microsoft Store on the emulator, which is to be expected as its main purpose is app development. But beyond that it appears that most of the Google applications are not included in the device and the build is based off the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) more than anything else.
